It's season 2 of Pilipinas Got Talent and this early, fans are already betting on who will win this year. Marcelito Po Moy. In Pilipinas Got Talent's Saturday auditions, Marcelito Po Moy sang his heart out to cheers from the gallery and the judges.
Marcelito has this high-pitched voice that was totally unexpected. He spoke with his normal voice when interviewed by the judges before his performance.
But when he sang Narito Ako, that's when we first heard his high-pitched singing voice. Was it a falsetto? I'm not sure. But Marcelito reached the highest notes of the demanding song even many women could not sing.
Will Marcelito be the next winner of Pilipinas Got Talent? Maybe. But I doubt if he can sing other songs as well. His shrill voice may be good for a song like Narito Ako but for other songs, I doubt it.
Mara Clara is one of the most watched TV series in the Philippines right now. A tale of two girls, named Mara and Clara, from the opposite sides of the track, its a remake of the highly successful Mara Clara series from the 90s that made stars of Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. And the remake seems to be following in the original's footsteps. Ratings have been high, and the two lead stars have carved a niche for themselves in Philippine show business ever since the series started.
Now in the homestretch, a tragic episode was shown last week. Mara died. Is she really dead? We don't know yet, and chances are, she's not. That's how it is in Philippine teleseryes. The heroine supposedly dies but turns out to be alive in the end for a happy ending.
However, a particular young fan believes her idol really died in the story. And she was so affected that she couldn't help but cry, hysterically at that. How do we know all this? Her sister videotaped the young kid's reaction as she watched Mara die in the TV series, posted it on YouTube, and the rest is history.
Entitled "MARA CLARA REACTION: How mara clara affects my sister :))," the video has since gone viral.
