Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes have split. The Kate Winslet-Sam mendes break up was announced earlier today by a British law firm which further revealed that the two have been separated since early this year. No word if divorce will be next for the two who have been married since 2003 and have two children.
Is this the Best Actress Oscar curse? Many claim that winning the coveted golden statue brings with it bad luck. Past winners saw their careers or personal life (sometimes both) plummet. Reese Withersppoon's
career has been cold since she won the Oscar a couple of years ago. She also split from then husband Ryan Philippe a year or so after winning. The same thing happened to Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Helen Hunt and some others.
Kate Winslet won the Academy Award for best actress for her role in The Reader last year. It was the first Oscar win for Winslet, who had been nominated five other times for her roles in Titanic, Sense and Sensibility, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Little Children.
Sam is known for his 1998 production of Cabaret starring Alan Cumming and his debut film American Beauty for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director.
