Tiger Woods ESPN interview (VIDEO, TRANSCRIPT) w/ Tom Rinaldi

It is the first time Tiger Woods has granted an interview since the car accident on November 27 that set off a series of events revealing his affairs with numerous women. Since then, with his clean image tarnished, sponsors have pulled out. Dozens have come out claiming to have had affairs with him with some even offering proof of the liaisons, the latest of which were the text messages Joslyn James revealed last week containing gr*phic messages from the golf superstar.

Tiger Woods has already publicly apologized via a news
conference last month. However, reporters were not allowed to ask questions during that news conference. As such, this ESPN interview by Tom Rinaldi is the first time any member of the media has talked to him about the scandal and its consequences, and his plans for the future.

Woods announced his return to golf via The Masters 2010. With The Masters only a few weeks away, this interview is seen by many as another attempt by Woods and his associates to soften and polish his tarnished image before the public.

Rinaldi: What's the difference between the man who left Augusta national a year ago and the one who is about to return?

Woods: A lot has transpired in my life. A lot of ugly things have happened. Things that.....I've done some pretty bad things in my life. And uh, all came to a head. But now, after treatment, going for inpatient treatment for 45 days and more outpatient treatment, I'm getting back to my old roots.

Rinaldi: For a lot of people, the spark of those bad things is Nov. 27. Early that day, what happened?

Woods: Well, it's all in the police report. Beyond that, everything's between Elin and myself and that's private.

Rinaldi: Why did you lose control of the car?

Woods: As I said ... that's between Elin and myself.

Rinaldi: If it's a private matter, why issue a public apology?
