Manchester United vs Aston Villa League Cup live stream online

Manchester United looks in good form lately, just in time for the League Cup final against Aston Villa today. The Red Devils will surely fight for this as always. However, it looks like Aston Villa wants it more having waited for the past fourteen years for another title.

Based on their record this season, it looks like Aston Villa has the edge. The Red Devils have struggled against the Birmingham-based club this season, with Villa beating the Premier League champions at Old Trafford earlier and holding them to a draw at Villa Park just two weeks
ago. Having won the first ever League Cup final back in 1961, the Villans will be looking to add to their five previous titles on Sunday while United will be hoping to lift the trophy for the fourth time in their illustrious history.

Who will prevail? Will it be the Red Devils with in-form Wayne Rooney spearheading the campaign, or will it be Aston Villa, finally ending its title drought? Let's wait and find out.

People were actually waiting to see if and how the two would shake hands before the match, a customary procedure between members of two opposing teams.

Chile earthquake: massive 8.8 quake strikes Chile (VIDEO)

A massive earthquake has struck Chile. The quake struck at 0634 GMT about 115km (70 miles) north-east of the city of Concepcion and 325km south-west of the capital, Santiago. Initial reports say building in the area have been reduced to rubble and at least 47 people have been killed. Santiago airport has been closed and all flights cancelled until further notice, airline officials say. Flights are being diverted to Mendoza in Argentina. Aftershocks as strong as magnitude 6.9 have been reported.

Witness accounts say the tremor lasted for about two minutes while those in other areas report that the shaking was only felt for about 20 to 30 seconds. Power is out as expected and communication is down, though internet service in some areas are working.

Many building including hospitals have to be evacuated due to structural damage. Residents are staying out on the streets and open spaces for fear of aftershocks. President Bachelet called on people to remain calm and contact the authorities if they needed help.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake struck at a depth of about 35km. The USGS said tsunami effects had been observed at Valparaiso, west of Santiago, with a wave height of 1.69m above normal sea level. Tsunami warnings have been issued for Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific nations. Alerts were also earlier issued for Antarctica and Central America.

USA beats Finland hockey 6-1 2010 Olympics (VIDEO): gold next?

The match was virtually over in the first period with the American humbling Finland with six goals to none. It was an embarrassing result for the Scandinavians. Touted to give their North American opponents a run for their money before the scheduled encounter, the Finnish were finished before they knew it.

The Americans in the crowd cheered loudly as the rest in the audience sat in disbelief. After Ryan Malone scored off Miikka Kiprusoff's pass to an empty net, the US hockey team went on to rout their opponents. The Americans
scored four times on Kiprusoff in a six-goal first period, winning 6-1 and surging into the Olympic gold-medal game. As the clock ran out, US team captain Jamie Langenbrunner led the celebration by banging his stick against the boards as his teammates hugged on the bench.

The US hockey team now face the Canadians for the gold medal after the hosts beat giant-killers Slovakia in a later match. The gold medal encounter is scheduled on Sunday, a apt ending to a successful 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. It will also be 50 years to the day when the Americans won the gold medal in hockey in Squaw Valley in 1960. It will also be the the Americans' first trip to the podium since the Miracle on Ice in 1980.

Apolo Anton Ohno disqualified (DQ) in 500m (VIDEO) Olympics 2010

Apolo Anton Ohno was unable to repeat his 500m triumph in Turin four years ago. Though he made to the finals after avoiding crashes and qualification along the way, he was DQ'd in the final run thus denying him of another medal (it would have been a silver) to add to his already record-breaking haul from two Olympiads.

Ohno was running last going into the final turn when he made a move on the pack. He tried to move inside Canadian skater Francois Louis Tremblay and hitting him in the process. Tremblay fell and slid to wall. South
Korea's Sung Si Bak also fell. Ohno then crossed the finish line in second place with the South Korean sliding across for third.

But after a review of the race, the referees disqualified Ohno for the crash. The Korean was moved up to silver and Tremblay, who was able to get up and cross the line, was given the bronze.

“There was no space between the skaters,” Ohno said. “There was a fast pace from the beginning. I had so much speed that I put my hand up to not run into the Canadian before me. I guess the judge saw something I didn’t.”

UPDATE: Apolo Anton Ohno recovered from his disqualification to anchor the US team to a bronze medal finish in the 5000m relay behind Canada and South Korea.

Canada vs Slovakia 3-2 (VIDEO) in hockey, plays US for gold

Team Canada will play for gold after all. This after beating Slovakia in their semifinal match 3-2 to advance to the men's hockey gold medal round against the United States Olympics 2010 hockey team. It will be a rematch of an earlier encounter which the American won 5-3.

After being derailed in their gold medal quest in the sport their countrymen had invented, Canada will have a shot for gold medal glory. But their semifinal match was not easy. Slovakia was the giant-killer at these Games, surprisingly beating favorites Russia in an early round
encounter and then shocking defending champions Sweden. And it looked like they would do the same to the Canadians.

Though Canada was leading throughout (at one point 3-0), Slovakia stormed back furiously, threatening to equalize. But the hosts held their ground for a rematch with their North American rivals. It will be a great ender to these Olympic Games - Canada vs USA in the men's hockey finals.

Gatorade DROPS Tiger Woods, ends sponsorship (VIDEO)

"We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship...
We wish him all the best."

Tiger Woods dropped by Gatorade: yes, Gatorade is the latest Tiger Woods sponsor to cut ties with the beleaguered golf superstar. The drinks company, owned by PepsiCo, had already discontinued a Tiger Woods-themed drink, Tiger Focus. It follows AT&T and Accenture in ending deals. However, Gatorade made it clear that it will continue to support Woods' charitable endeavors through the Tiger Woods Foundation.

This comes just one week after the star made a frank public address to a select gathering at PGA Tour headquarters in Florida. Speaking before a group of hand picked friends, associates and family, Tiger apologized and admitted his affairs.

"I was unfaithful, I had affairs and I cheated. What I did was unacceptable," he said. He went on to read a prepared statement and said he had a long way to go.

David Geffen is Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" inspiration?

Ever since the song came out in 1972, the identity of the song's inspiration has been a secret, and thus, a constant source of speculation. You're So Vain is a critical profile of a self-absorbed lover that Simon asserts is "so vain" that she believes he "thinks the song is about [him]".

Through the years, there have been many 'suspects' - exes Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Warren Beatty, Mick Jagger or Kris Kristofferson. Shortly before the writing of the song, Simon was married to James Taylor, but she
has said that he was "definitely not" the subject of the song. In 1983, she also told the Washington Post that it is not about Mick Jagger.

Now, there is a new report that the subject of You're So Vain is David Geffen, her former boss at the Elektra label. The Sun of London even has a clip of the song played backwards and where you can hear the name 'David'.

Is this true? Is David Geffen really the inspiration of Carly Simon in You're So Vain? I don't think so. In 2004, Carly Simon talked to Regis Philbin where she revealed some clues as to the identity of her inspiration. "If I tell it, it's going to come out in dribs and drabs. And I've given out two letters already, an "A" and an "E." But I'm going to add one to it. I'm going to add an "R," in honor of you." There's definitely no "R" in David Geffen!

You walked into the party
Like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror
As you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not, you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you? Don't you?

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you

You're so vain (so vain)
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you? Don't you?

Canadian hockey celebration controversy (PHOTOS/video)

Hours after beating the US women's hockey team for the gold medal, the Canadian team is in the news again for another, less flattering issue - they are under investigation by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for 'shameful' behavior - they went back to the scene of their victory (the ice) to drink champagne and beer and smoke cigars. This report from the AP: (Photo courtesy of Getty Images)

Gilbert Felli, the IOC's executive director of the
Olympic Games, says he was unaware of the incidents until informed by an Associated Press reporter. He says drinking in public by athletes at an Olympic venue is "not what we want to see" and not a good image for sports values. Felli says the IOC will talk to the international hockey federation and Canadian Olympic Committee and then "act accordingly."

Meanwhile, Canadian women's hockey team has issued the following statement: "The members of Team Canada apologize if their on-ice celebrations, after fans had left the building, have offended anyone. In the excitement of the moment, the celebration left the confines of our dressing room and shouldn't have. The team regrets that its gold medal celebration may have caused the IOC or COC any embarrassment. Our players and team vow to uphold the values of the Olympics moving forward and view this situation as a learning experience."

Here's my two cents worth: Is Big Brother now in the IOC? What's wrong with partying and celebrations after a gold medal win? And what's wrong with champagne and beer? And cigars? It's not as if they were smoking marijuana or something? These girls deserve to party after their hard work and victory, and the prudes at the IOC should stop this 'investigation'.

What is shameful is how the IOC has been behaving about this issue ant that of Scotty Lago a couple of days ago. In case the old prudes at the IOC have forgotten, there is a thing such as FUN, and it should not be frowned upon or banned at the Olympics!

Just a thought, maybe what the IOC wants is for the athletes to stay locked up in their rooms reading the bible until the closing ceremonies.

Canada wins GOLD in women's hockey, beat US 2-0 (VIDEO)

With the hockey rivalry reaching fever pitch, Canada scored a triumph over the US hockey team.
No, it's not the men yet. It's the Canadian women's hockey team winning gold at the Olympics 2010 in Vancouver at the expense of the USA. Marie Philip Poulin scored two goals, Shannon Szabados made 28 saves, and Canada rolled through its American rivals, 2-0, to win the gold medal in women’s hockey for the third straight Olympics last night in front of a raucous Vancouver crowd ringing cowbells and frantically waving thousands of maple leaf flags.

It was a much deserved win as the Canadians dominated every aspect of the game with the hapless Americans trying their hardest to fight back. But Canada's women's hockey team was too good for them last night.

After their victory, the women went back to the scene of their triumph drinking champagne and beer on the ice and smoking cigars. These have been met with criticism and controversy. But many find nothing wrong with it. After all, they have worked hard for this triumph and they deserve it.

Joannie Rochette wins BRONZE in Olympics 2010 (VIDEO replay)

She is the sentimental favorite of these Olympics 2010 figure skating competitions. Not only because she is Canada's hope for a gold medal but because of the personal grief she went through.

Two days before the start of the women's figure skating competition in Vancouver, Joannie Rochette lost her mother. Hours after arriving in Vancouver to support her daughter in her life long dream, Therese Rochette succumbed to a heart attack. It was a tragic twist to world silver medalist Joannie's Olympic dream. But she held
on. Mustering courage and strength few can only imagine, Joannie Rochette continued with the competition and was rewarded with third place after the short program.

At the finals (free skate), Joannie knew she had the support of all of Canada and even people from all over the world who admired her for her courage.Joannie Rochette skated another graceful, elegant routine. Just four days after her mother's death, Rochette hit almost every part of her routine, enough for a bronze. Her mother would have been so proud.

Olympics 2010: Kim Yu Na wins GOLD, Mao Asada silver (VIDEO)

Kim Yu Na has lived up to expectations. Many were predicting Olympic glory for her as early as a year ago even before she won the world championship. Her effortless skating, excellent technical AND artistic skills - so rare to be seen together in one skater - have all contributed to the hype and expectations, and pressure. And she would brush them aside to win her first Olympics medal, a gold, despite challenges from other skaters.

Mao Asada had planned two triple axels in her long
program, and she nailed them both, but they were not enough to unseat Kim Yu Na from her top spot. In fact, nobody even came close as the South Korean champions reached a new high with her score - another world record. Her previous best was 207 in the world championships last year. This time, that mark was shattered by her combined 228.56 score. Asada, second, could only muster a 205.50. It is also worth mentioning that Kim's short and free skate scores are also world records - 78.50 and 150.06)

Aside from her jumps and her spins, it was the overall quality of Kim Yu Na's skating that sets her apart. She was effortless. You could hardly see tension on her shoulders as she jumped and spun on the ice. And her transition from one move to the other was amazing.

Joannie Rochette, Canada's hope and the sentimental favorite after she lost her mother to a heart attack two days before the women's figure skating started, skated her heart out and won the bronze.

Mirai Nagasu of the United States also made a big impression, jumping from sixth to a fourth place finish in her first Olympics with an excellent routine.
